Day 02 :KATHMANDU

Visit Pashupatinath and Boudhanath. PM – Free for Kailash tour preparation.O/N- Kathmandu
PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE : About 5 km from Kathmandu the famous Pasupatinath Temple, renowned for its superb architecture, its two storied golden roof and silver doors. Thousands of devotees converge here on an annual pilgrimage on the occasion of Maha Shivratri, the night of Lord Shiva, in the month February. Entrance into the temple-precincts is permitted only for the Hindus but other can clearly see the temple and ritual performance from the eastern bank of the Bagmati, where people cremate the dead.

BOUDDHANATH : Situated 7kms northwest of Kathmandu city, the stupa of Bouddhanath contains the relics of Kashyap Buddha, one of the former Buddha’s. The stupa was much later renovated by the Lichchhavi rulers of the 8th century A.D. Bouddhanath is a very important and holy stupa to Buddhists, particularly to the Tibetan Buddhists. The lotus-born Guru, Guru Padmashambava had revealed its greatness and importance to the Tibetan King Trisondetsen (742-797 A.D.)

Day 04: NYALAMU

Full day free for acclimatization. O/N- Nyalamu.

Day 05: NYALAMU-SAGA or DONGBA

Drive to the first high pass of Lalung La (16665 ft, 5050 mt). From here a superb view of high Himalayas can be seen from Gaurishanker, Shishapangma to Langtang himal. Drive past Khunmen Tso, Sinling, Karru Ongchen and arrive Peigutso (14540 ft, 4406 mt). Continue driving to Saga (14080 ft, 4267 mt) 232 Kms . (driving approx. 7 hrs). Stay at Guesthouse.

Day 06: SAGA/ DONGBA- HORCHU ( HOR-QU)

Drive through the windswept territory passing many villages and camps of Yak herders with distance view of snow capped mountains. After lunch at Mayum (15280 ft, 4630 mt) continue drive crossing Mayum La pass (17160 ft, 5200mt). Have the first sight (Darshan) of Mt. Kailash and arrive Hor-Qu [east shore of lake Manasarovar](14500 ft, 4394 mt), 144 Kms, 90 miles from Saga and Kms from Dongba. Stay at Guesthouse. (total drive Approx 7 hrs).

Day 07: HORCHU –CHU GOMPA

From Hor-Qu drive to Chu Gompa (14500 ft, 4420 mt) taking parikrama of Manasarovar by jeep.arrive Chu Gompa Total distance covered 90 Km, 144 miles. Stay at guesthouse. Approx 4 hrs .

Day 09: DARCHEN- SERSANG VALLEY-PARIKRAMA- DIRAPHUK

Drive to Tarboche (15200 ft, 4606 mt), 9 Kms , 6 miles. Then trek through Shersong, the rebuilt Chukku Gompa, Dambing Donkhang (16137 ft, 4890mt.) and to Dirapuk (16200 ft, 4909mt). Distance 9 Km, 6 miles drive and 14 Km, 9 miles walk. Approx 6 hrs walk. Overnight in tent at Dirapuk.. Those not willing to do the Parikrama, will drive to Darchen and wait here for the parikrama group. Stay at guesthouse.

Day 10: DIRAPHUK –DOLMA - ZUTULPHUK

Climb through a moraine to a meadow at 17193 ft, 5210mt and then pass rock cairns to emerge to Dolma La at 18579 ft, 5630mt (highest altitude on this Yatra). From the pass descend via Guari Kunda Lake to the La Chukkir Villy at 16995 ft, 5150mt where you should look for the foot prints, which pilgrims believe belonged to Buddha. Descend further along, a long gentle path to Zutul-Puk Gompa (15807 ft, 4790mt.), where there is a cave in which the saint Milarepa is said to have meditated. Total distance 20 Km, 12 miles. Approx 10 hrs. Stay at tented camp.
